A Smidge of Wisdom

"A gift is pure when it is given from the heart to the right person at the right time and at the right place, and when we expect nothing in return."

---Bhagavad Gita

about me

Annam wrote her first story when she was in kindergarten. It was about an evil pig and an evil family and had a happy ending. She was hooked after that.

Since, Annam has written two novels, The Goju Story and After the Tsunami(Stephen F. Austin State University Press, 2011). Her short story collection (Dysfunction) was also a Finalist in both the 2010 Elixir Press and Leapfrog Press fiction contests and is forthcoming from Aqueous Books in 2013.

Annam's prize-winning fiction has been published in over twenty journals, and she currently serves as Associate Editor of the Grey Sparrow Press, winner of the 2011 CELJ's Best New Literary Journal award.

A graduate of the M.A. Writing program at the University of Southern California, Ms. Manthiram resides in New Mexico with her husband, Alex, and son, Sathya. So far, she's quite enchanted.

For those wondering about the swan photo, Annam's name means "Swan" in Tamil.
